Medication Aide / Med-Tech
Program Hours:
- 68 hours ( 3.5 weeks)
- Theory 48 hours, Clinical 20 hrs
Length: 3.5 weeks
Schedule: Monday – Thursday (9 am – 2:30 pm)
This program prepares students to safely administer medications in assisted living facilities. Students will acquire some skills such as
- Understand the basics of medication administration
- Assist clients with self medication administration
- The proper procedure for preparing, safely administering medications, storage and disposal of medications
- Documentation in medication administration record.
- Infection Control practices
Basic Admission Requirements
- Student must be at least 18 years of age
- Student must be able to read, write and understand English.
- PCA/CNA certified by an approved school
- Valid Identification card [driver’s license, state ID, Passport, work authorization]
- Criminal background check
- TB Test (PPD test/Quantiferon gold test/chest X-ray)
- Hepatitis B
- Flu shot
- COVID-19 vaccine
Medication Administration Training
Program Hours: 32 hours
Length: 1 week
Schedule: Monday – Friday (9 am-3:40 pm)
This program prepares students to assist clients with self administration of medications. Upon successful completion, student will be awarded a certificate of completion. Graduates will be able to work in mental health facilities, group homes, adult/child daycare centers licensed by the commonwealth of Virginia Department of Social Services division of licensing program.
